Kindergarten Round Up, also referred to as Kindergarten Registration, is the opportunity for parents and/or guardians to register their child for school.  

For students entering Kindergarten for the 2026-2027  school year, this year's Kindergarten Round Up will be hosted at each elementary school on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.  If the time does not work for your family, please call the school office your child will attend at the number listed below to make arrangements.

If you are unsure which elementary school your child should attend, you may contact transportation (219) 983-3615.  By providing your address, transportation personnel will inform you of your child’s school. Parents and/or guardians will meet the principal, turn in paperwork, connect with other school staff, meet future classmates and families, ask questions about the upcoming year. Plus, enjoy fun games, exciting giveaways, and learn about awesome summer opportunities to help your child prepare for school! Different stations will be set up for families to visit.  Some of the stations include: transportation, nursing, classrooms, play area, and photos.

• Copy of Child’s Current Immunization Record
• Copy of Custody Documents or Divorce Decrees
• Copy of IEP or 504 if applicable

• Valid Driver's License or State ID

  • If you are a Homeowner (two (2) of the following)
    • Utility Bill, Deed, Contract, or Mortgage Statement, Porter County Tax Bill

• If you Lease or Rent (two (2) of the following)
  • Lease / Rental Agreement (including dates) and one of the following:
  • Utility Bill, Vehicle Registration, TANF letter from State of Indiana, Other Mail (i.e. Bank Statement, Telephone Bill, Tax Return)

YES!  Please bring your future kindergartener to round up. There will be fun activities for them to participate in such as having their picture taken, playing games, and getting a book about their school.

You will need a letter from the homeowner stating you and your student(s) reside at their home.  You will also need the homeowners' proof of residency (see list above). In addition, a piece of mail (e.g. bank or wage statement, phone bill, car registration, Dept. of Children and Family Services) addressed to yourself with the current address.  

Student Enrollment is the one-time process of arranging to attend Duneland School Corporation. Once a student is enrolled with Duneland School Corporation, they are eligible to proceed with registration.
Registration is the yearly process of reviewing and updating student information typically done electronically prior to the start of school.  

Attending Kindergarten now, even though school doesn't start until August, is a great way to set your child  up for success! It's an exciting opportunity to meet the teachers and staff who will be part of your child's school journey, connect with future classmates, and get a feel for the school corporation’s community. Plus, you'll receive invites to some events held at your child’s future school this year, giving your child a head start in becoming familiar with everything the school has to offer.

You’ll also have a chance to sign up for programs like Kindercamp, where your child can enjoy a fun, engaging introduction to kindergarten over the summer, making the transition smoother when school officially begins. You'll also have the chance to meet with child care staff, learn about school nutrition, transportation options, and get your questions answered.

Finally, Kindergarten Round-Up helps the school prepare for the upcoming year by getting an accurate count of students, ensuring they’re ready to offer the best experience possible for your child!

Yes. All elementary schools will offer different opportunities for you to visit your child’s future school.  Plus, each school will host a Back-to-School Open House prior to school starting in August.

A child must be five years old on or before August 1. 

Yes. DSC’s Policy 5112 also permits a parent or legal guardian to request a waiver of the August 1 date if the child’s fifth birthday falls between August 2 and September 1, of the upcoming school year. Details about teacher assignments will be provided by your child’s school or through the school website Parents can access Skyward from the Duneland School Corporation website (Skyward Parent Access).  Typically teacher assignments are not available until the Friday before school begins in August.
