Summer School 2019
Duneland School Corporation’s 2019 summer school program, The Summer Reading Connection (SRC), is an engaging literacy program designed to meet the needs of students of all reading levels. SRC is an incentive program designed to motivate students who want to read more and get better at reading. The program also includes a class for struggling readers and those third-grade students who were not successful on the IREAD-3 State Assessment.
Who is eligible to attend?
Students who are currently enrolled in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade are invited to attend.
Where will it take place?
Bailly Elementary School is the current planned location for the Summer Reading Connection program.
What are the dates and times?
The 15-day session will begin on Monday, June 3 and end on Friday, June 21, 2019. Each school day will begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 12:20 p.m
Breakfast & Busses?
Breakfast will be available at the school from 7:15-7:45 a.m. Limited bus service will be provided.
The Elementary Summer School program is for students currently in grades 1-3. All students should enroll in the grade which they attended during the 2018-2019 school year. Registration forms are being distributed to students in grades 1-3. Extra forms are also available at your child's school. To register, fill out the enrollment form or contact the elementary school your child attends. It is important to sign up early by submitting your enrollment form to reserve a place.
- Students must be registered by Monday, April 29, 2019.
- Students enrolled after this date will be placed on a waiting list.
CHS Summer School Information
Summer SchoolRegistration for CHS Summer School will begin on April 1, 2019. SUMMER SCHOOL IS FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS and limited transportation will be provided. Parents can enroll their student in both sessions of summer school at one time. You will be able to check your registration for summer school in Skyward but no other registration documents will be sent home. Duneland School Corporation students will receive preferred placement in summer school over out of district students, but no fees will be charged. THE DEADLINE FOR SESSION ONE REGISTRATION IS FRIDAY, MAY 17, 2019. Please return the registration form to the School Counselor's office.The first session of summer school will run from June 3 to June 26, with no classes on Fridays. The second session is July 1 through July 25 with no classes on Fridays. Summer school will be closed on July 4 and 5 in observance of the holiday. Please see the calendars on the registration form for the exact schedule.The CHS Summer School application can be downloaded below and includes a list of classes offered as well as additional important information.Drivers EducationChesterton High School is offering two programs this summer, the Traditional Program (fee is $375; $425 out of district). and the Online Program The total cost of the online program is $399. ($300 to CHS plus $99 paid online) Both programs include 8 in-car driving lessons on assigned days The fee must be paid at time of registration. Application and payment will be accepted starting on Monday, April 1, through Friday, May 3, 2019 in the CHS Bookstore.
