CMS Clubs and Activities
Art Club
Open to 7th and 8th graders. Art club meets once a week after school for an hour. This is a time for students to work on their classwork or outside community projects. Contacts: Mr. Gast, Teacher
Battle of the Books
Book Battle is open to all 7th and 8th grade students. Teams of students form in the fall and battle in the second semester. The book list can be found online on the Chesterton Middle School Homepage. Contact: Mrs. Gish, Media Specialist
Book/ Reader’s Club
Open to 7th and 8th graders. This group is made up of students who love to read and discuss what you read. Contact: Mrs. Gish, Media Specialist or Ms. Graupner, Teacher
Concessions Club
Open to 7th and 8th graders. This club is for students who have good math skills and would like to work in the concession booths at home sporting events. Selling, serving, setting up, and cleaning is some of the duties involved. Contact: Athletic Department
Drama Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in growing interpersonal skills, confidence, creativity and self-expression. The drama club produces and performs a spring play. Contact: Ms. Graupner or Ms. Boy, Teachers
Fiber Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in learning a new skill or work on a fiber project. All are welcome beginners to experts!
Japanese Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in Japanese language and the culture. You do not need to be in Japanese classes. This club meets once a month and does different activities such as origami, chopstick races, movies, calligraphy, and more. Contact: Mrs. Tsugawa, Teacher
Robotics Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in building fun electronic projects. No prior robot building experience required. Contact: Mr. Yong, Teacher
Science Olympiad
Open to 7th and 8th graders. Science Olympiad is a competitive academic science team. There are 23 events that encompass life science, Earth & space science, physical science, chemistry, technology & engineering, and inquiry & the nature of science. Contact: Mrs. Keilman, Teacher
SHO- Students Helping Others
Open to 8th grade students interested in being ambassadors for our school. Students work with students in conflict, tutor and mentor, and help new students become acclimated to our school. This program begins in the spring of 7th grade when staff members recommend students based on academic success, integrity, reliability, and someone that others go to when needing a peer to talk to. Social Studies Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in learning and exploring more about social studies topics.

Spanish Club
Open to 8th grade students presently enrolled in Spanish 1. Students will meet once a month to learn additional information about the Spanish language and related cultures. Contact: Mrs. Grimes, Teacher
Student Council
Open to 7th and 8th graders, selected at the beginning of the school year. Sponsors parties, food drives, fundraisers, school improvement activities and more. Promotes leadership skills. Contacts: Mrs. Amling or Mrs. Hall, Teachers
Table Top Games Club
Open to 7th and 8th grade students interested in learning and playing a variety of board and card games. Table Top Games will introduce students to various popular games played around the world. Contact: Mrs. Gish, Media Specialist or Ms. Graupner, Teacher
Trojan Times (Newspaper)
Open to 7th and 8th graders. This group provides an opportunity for students to produce a monthly school newspaper, featuring things important to them and information about school activities. Creative writing and basics of journalism are explored. Contact: Mr. Tudor, Teacher
