Eligibility Requirements
Teacher of the Year
- Nominees must be contracted teachers/counselors/instructional coaches/media specialists/athletic trainers in grades K-6 and 7-12 with a minimum of 5 completed years of teaching experience in the Duneland School Corporation.
- Teacher of the Year candidates are to exhibit the following:
- Ability to create a love of learning in students of all abilities and backgrounds
- Sets high expectations for all students
- Utilizes research-based instructional strategies
- Acts with integrity and professionalism
- Serves as a role model for other teachers in corporation, school, department, and/or grade-level team
- Models growth mindset by experimenting with new strategies to expand professional knowledge base and expertise
- Strong communication skills
- Displays energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude
- Exhibits strong work ethic
- Previous winners/finalists are ineligible for 3 years from their recognition.
Employee of the Year
- Nominees must be classified employees in the Duneland School Corporation who have been employed a minimum of 5-years at the beginning of the nomination period (February 1, 2021). An individual may be nominated who works full-time or part-time in any classified position.
- The nomination should focus on the work done by the employee during the regular course of his/her employment.
- Employee of the Year candidates exhibit the following qualities:
- Works efficiently and diligently to complete duties in a timely fashion
- Exhibits desire and ability to exceed established quality standards
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Shows initiative in carrying out the duties of the job
- Promotes educational goals of district/school
- Motivates others
- Communicates effectively
- Exhibits a positive attitude
- Demonstrates care and support for others
- Outstanding performance in carrying out duties
- Fosters a positive work environment
- Previous winners/finalists are ineligible for 3 years from their recognition.
