The Northwest Indiana Public School Study Council and the Northwest Indiana Educational Service Center have partnered together to bring the documentary film “Rise Above the Mark” to Northwest Indiana. The documentary may be viewed on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in one of two locations. The first showing will be at 5:30 p.m. CDT at Chesterton High School’s Auditorium, 2125 S 11th Street. Please use Entrance 31. The second showing will be at 7:00 p.m. at Hobart High School. Enter from the light off of Union Street, 2211 E. 10th Street. Please use Door 21.
“Rise Above the Mark” is a sixty-five (65) minute documentary film narrated by Peter Coyote that brings to light realities of public education regarding what happens when politics enter the classroom. The film focuses on Indiana's struggles with public education reform – the same types of struggles that are experienced in schools throughout the United States. Education leaders Diane Ravtich, Linda Darling-Hammond, Pasi Sahlberg and others discuss how America can make positive changes to provide an exceptional public school system for all children.
