| Former IB Diploma graduate, Lucas Wolf, introduced the keynote speaker and spoke firsthand about his experience and opinion of the curriculum. The IB structure of the projects and examinations offered him a chance to share what he knew about a subject--not what he didn't know, and he appreciated that. Lucas is originally from Germany and is currently studying at IUPUI in Indianapolis. | ![]() |
| Jen Oliver, from the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning, spoke briefly about her role at CELL in the promotion and recognition of IB, AP, and Dual Credit achievements in our Indiana colleges and universities. History of HIBS
In early October 2008, the Indiana Department of Education hosted an International Baccalaureate Schools Symposium. That meeting sparked interest on the part of Indiana IB schools to form an association that would meet the specific needs of IB schools in Indiana (apart from the Great Lakes IB Schools subregional organization). A subsequent meeting was held on December 4 at Ben Davis High School, at which time a constitution was drafted, a board was elected, and the application process was put in motion. Having an approved application and constitution in place, the first bi-annual general meeting of HIBS (HOOSIER INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE SCHOOLS) took place on February 9, 2009, at Ben Davis High School with Bridgette Joseph, Ben Davis Coordinator, serving as President.
